Daniel Houck Baker

May 22, 1924 - April 30, 2019

Daniel H. Baker, age 94, of Worthington died April 30, 2019 at home. Born May 22, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Irving and Thais Baker, he was also preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, and great-granddaughter Annabelle Losee.

He is survived by his daughters Linda (Harold) Miller, Nanette Baker, and Nancy (Robert) Losee, brother Robert (Dalia) Baker; grandchildren, Rob, Melissa, Amy, Michael, Jeffrey: great grandchildren, Karleigh, Aaron, Tyler, Ashton, Austin, Anthony, Tanner, Mary, Hunter, Zachary, Colby, Blake, Logan, and 2 great great-grandchildren.

Dan graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and The Ohio State University. He was a music educator in Mansfield at John Simpson from 1948-1951, Urbana High School 1951-1954 and retired from Columbus City Schools where he was the band director at Linden McKinley High School 1954-1966, Northland High School 1966-1968 (he wrote the high school's Fight song), Music Supervisor 1968-1983. He was a member of The Franklin County Retired Teachers, OMEA, OSU Alumni band, Doc Everhart's dance band, The Aladdin Shrine Temple Band, was a Master Mason 32 degree, The Scottish Rite, and The Royal Jesters.

Calling hours will be held at the Schoedinger - Worthington on Sunday May 19th from 1-3 pm followed by a Masonic service.

Dan was a member of the marching band in 1942, and 1946 through 1948. He played both trombone and trombonium.
