Rev. Carl Glenn Beighley

August 30, 1929 - August 25, 2025

On Monday morning, August 25, 2025, Rev. Carl Glenn Beighley, D.Div., went to his eternal home to be with JESUS. Carl was an amazing man whose only mission in life was to preach the gospel and to draw people closer to JESUS. Carl loved JESUS, he loved his wife: Barbara Beighley who passed away in 2016; his present wife: Jeannie Beighley; his children: Jim Beighley (Peggie), Crystal Feeney (Brian), Glenn Beighley (Vikki), Wes Beighley (Sara); and his beautiful grandchildren: Kaitlin and Kenzie Feeney, and Tessa, Braden, Brody, and, soon to arrive, Brianna Beighley.

Born August 30, 1929 in Struthers, Ohio to Paul Allen and Mary (Glock) Beighley, Carl attended The Ohio State University until he was drafted into the U.S. Army Signal Corp for the Korean War in August of 1951. In March of 1953, Carl married Barbara June Green and was discharged from the army in August of 1953, at which time he moved back to Columbus to finish his degree. Carl played the trumpet in The Ohio State University marching band and marched in the Rose Bowl parade in California in 1950. Carl graduated from the Ohio State University in 1955, Oberlin Graduate School of Theology in 1958, Vanderbilt University in 1973 with his master’s degree, and went on to receive his Doctor of Divinity from Universal Bible Institute in 1978. Throughout his years of ministry, Carl served the following churches: Calvary, East Liverpool (1958-1962), 1st Church, Mineral Ridge (1962-1966), Richard Brown, Youngstown (1966-1978), Oberlin First United Methodist (1978-1982), Shelby First United Methodist (1982-1990), Massillon First United Methodist (1990-1995), Retired (1995), and Minister of visitation (1995-1996). Carl was blessed to officiate at his four children’s weddings and on his last official Sunday prior to his retirement, he baptized his twin granddaughters. He later went on to baptize his three other grandchildren.

Carl and Barbara eventually moved to a lovely retirement community, Wedgewood Estates, in Mansfield, Ohio. This is where Carl lived in a beautiful home from 2007 until moving into assisted living in May of 2025.

Carl’s charm, love, and wit will live on in all of his descendants. Our family is blessed to have him not only in our lives, but also in the lives of countless families and friends who encountered his joyous and encouraging persona. He will be so missed, but his teachings and counsel will live on.

Thank you to the amazing staff at Wedgewood Estates and to the staff of Hospice of the Western Reserve.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512. Rev. JP Snyder, Pastor of Ontario United Methodist Church, will officiate the services. For those wishing, memorial contributions in Carl’s honor may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve (HospiceWR.org/donate).

Care for Carl and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Condolences may be left on the funeral home’s website (PenwellFuneralHome.com) or their Facebook page (Facebook.com/PenwellFuneralHome).
