Kenneth Edward Davis

August 26, 1943 - May 28, 2017

Kenneth E. Davis 73, of Springfield, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 28, 2017 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 26, 1943, the son of the late Edward and Ernestine (Page) Davis.

Ken attended The Ohio State University where he was a proud member of THE Ohio State University Marching Band, and then went to Wittenberg University, earning his B.A. in Music Education.

He worked as a band director, teacher and insurance salesman, but was most proud of owning and operating Davis Piano Service for 35 years.

He was a member of the Hillside Avene Church of God.

Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie E. (Taylor) Davis; three children, Scott (Patti) Davis of Urbana, Susan Lucas of Springfield, and Steve (Renee) Davis of Lohman, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Leina (Nick) Trusch, Katy and Megan Lucas, and Abbie, Austin, Ross, James, Liam, Colette and Rosemary Davis; and a great granddaughter, Jade Trusch. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Thompson and Donna Joanne Carroll.

A service in celebration of Ken's life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Hillside Avenue Church of God with Pastor Larry Cook officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am until the time of service.

Ken was a member of the marching band from 1961 through 1963. He played trombonium in F-Row.
