Sheryl Louise Hutchison

May 5, 1956 - August 27, 2013

Sheryl "Hutch" Hutchison, age 57, of Logan, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 29, 1956 to her loving parents, Eugene and Dorothy Hutchison. In addition to her parents she is survived by her siblings, Susi (Fred) Rinehart, Sandy (Tom) Frazier, and Jeff Hutchison; nieces and nephews, Heather, Sara, Andy, Erin, Jeni, Jason, and Jessy; business partner and best friend, Joan Schulze; and many great nieces and nephews, friends, extended family, and her beloved students and campers. Hutch was a 1974 graduate of Northland High School where she was in the marching band and also played softball, basketball, and tennis. She went on to earn a Bachelors in Education from The Ohio State University where she participated in the marching band, softball, fencing, judo, and field hockey. She was privileged to march with The OSU Marching Band in the Rose Bowl two times. She was an avid fan of The OSU Buckeyes.

Hutch dedicated her life to helping others. She worked for Orient State Hospital, the Franklin County Board of MRDD, and retired from the Fairfield County Educational Service Center. She lived her life for God, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Athens, Ohio where she was very active and sang in the choir, she loved her St. Paul family dearly. She was very involved in the Special Olympics and won the Red Cross Hero Award in 2008.

In 2011 Hutch successfully completed the 378 mile Pan Ohio Cancer Ride. Hutch had a deep affinity for nature; she was a certified professional outdoor leader through the Wilderness Education Association. She was the co-founder of Monday Creek Adventure Company and enjoyed backpacking and camping and had many adventures. She also had an affinity for the American Indians.

Hutch will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her, she was happy, loving, and a peacemaker who touched the lives of many. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Fr. Pat Gaughan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hutch Memorial Fund on the web at hutchmemorialfund.blogspot.com or you may mail your donation to the address provided on the website to assist with funeral expenses. Any leftover funds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Cheryl was a member of the marching band in 1974 and 1975. She played cymbals.
