Jack Kenneth Lee

Jack K. Lee, 84, died Friday, December 23, 2005, in Phoenix, Arizona. Jack played alto horn in the OSUMB 1941-43, 45-46. He also was a student assistant to William McBride and Manley Whitcomb. He and Whitcomb were responsible for implementing the eight-to-five marching at OSU. After teaching briefly at Worthington High School, Jack served as an assistant marching band director at the University of Michigan. In 1952, Jack became the Director of Bands at The University of Arizona, where he wrote their fight song “Bear Down, Arizona”. He retired from teaching duties in 1988.

Jack was a member of the marching band from 1941 through 1943 and in 1945 and 1946. He played Alto horn.
