Andrew Mark Oblak

March 3, 1958 - January 31, 2015

Andrew Mark Oblak, age 56, of Howard, Ohio, passed away on January 31, 2015 at the Knox Community Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1958 in Painesville, Ohio, to Andrew and Eugenia (Hunyadi) Oblak.

Andy was part of the Ohio State Marching Band from 1976 to 1980 and enjoyed every minute of being part of the “Best Damn Band in the Land”. He also served his country proudly by being a 1st. Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Andy graduated from Mayfield High School, class of 1976, where he received the coveted John Phillip Sousa Award. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the American Legion Post 343 in Euclid, Ohio. In his younger years, Andy liked to bowl, play softball and sing. Classical music was his love; he enjoyed playing and singing as often as possible.

Andy is survived by his mother, Eugenia Oblak; a sister, Alisa (John) Dambrosio; an uncle, Steve (Rosalyn) Hunyadi; 2 nieces, Diana (Fabio) Gonzalez and Jacquelyn Dambrosio; numerous other nieces and nephews and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Oblak.

Calling hours will be held at the Danville United Methodist Church from 1 to 2 PM, on Saturday February 14, 2015, where a celebration of life service will follow. Rev. Thomas Orr will be officiating. There will be a Military service conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Andrew Mark Oblak.

Andrew was a member of the marching band from 1977 through 1980. He played trombone.
