Charles Edward Reed

August 4, 1927 - November 26, 2014

Charles "Chuck" E. Reed 87 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at OSU Wexner Medical Center.

He was born on August 4, 1927 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Carl and Clara Reed. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1945, a graduate of The Ohio State University, and a member of The OSU Marching Band. He earned his law degree at Valparaiso University.

Chuck was a Lancaster attorney for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and also attended First English Lutheran Church. He was very civic minded and involved with the Fairfield County Foundation, Lancaster Kiwanis Club, Olivedale Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels, City of Lancaster Solicitor, past President of Lancaster City Schools Board of Education, sat on the board of the Robert K. Fox Family Y, and chaired the Fairfield County Foundation.

Chuck was survived by his daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Mullins of Bucyrus, Ohio, Jan (Mark) Raymond of Alexandria, Ohio, Laura Reed of Lancaster, Ohio and Judy (Kent) Miller of Lancaster, Ohio; step-children, Brent (Nancy) Morrison of Nashua, New Hampshire, Jeff Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pamela (Hugo) delCanto of Falls Church, Virginia; step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was active in his community, known as a man of honor and integrity.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ellen "Susie" Reed and wife, Patricia J. Morrison Reed, parents, brothers, Dr. Richard Reed and Robert Reed, sister, Ruth Calvert and step-son, Robert Morrison.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverends Roger Quay and Brian P. Dillahunt officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 North Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with a Lancaster Kiwanis memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also visit 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Fairfield Medical Center Foundation, 401 North Ewing Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or Robert K. Fox Family Y, 465 West Sixth Ave, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in his memory.

Chuck was a member of the marching band in 1945, when he played clarinet and in 1946 & 1947 when he played tenor horn.
