Frank J. Reed, Sr.

November 6, 1943 - October 10, 2025

Frank J. Reed, Sr., age 81, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on October 10, 2025. Frank was born on November 6, 1943, in Columbus to the late Roy and Sylvia Reed. He graduated from Bexley High School in 1961 where he was a member of the concert and marching bands playing the trumpet. He won the John Philip Sousa Award his senior year. He attended The Ohio State University where he was a member of the OSU Marching Band “TBDBITL” and continued with the Alumni Band until he passed away.

Frank began working for Zettler Hardware Company in 1974 and developed skills as a locksmith. In 1991, he started his own locksmith business, was known as Mr. Keys and worked until the day he died.

Frank always had a smile and enjoyed performing in orchestras, choirs, square dancing, ballroom dancing and was active in many community and business organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Sheipline and former wife, Barbara Reed. He is survived by his brother, Bill (Sheila) Reed; his children, Frank (Frances) Reed, Jr. and Steven (Brenda) Reed; his grandchildren, Charles McCorkle-Reed, Arete McCorkle-Reed, Emily (Marcus) Pereira, Robert and Ryan; brother-in-law, Larry Sheipline (Carol Roth); nieces and nephews, W. Jay (Marcela) Reed, Terri (Andy) Wheeler and Michael Reed; great nieces and nephews, Brooklyn and Charlotte Wheeler and Ayla and Jayden Reed.

Friends may call Friday, October 17, 2025 from 5-7 pm at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street and Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10-11 am at Bexley United Methodist Church (where he was an active member), 2657 East Broad Street where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am.

Frank was a member of the marching band in 1963. He played Trumpet in B-Row.
