Alfred Wesley Rimmel

May 11, 1940 - June 4, 2010

Alfred Wesley Rimmel, 70, passed away June 4, 2010, at his home in Worthington, Ohio. He was born May 11, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio.

He completed his B.S. in Physics from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio in 1966. Alfred was a member of the Coast Guard and a Mason (Lodge #741). He was a Research Physicist at Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio and at Mellon Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Al was an Engineering Consultant to companies across Ohio and an Engineer at General Electric, Utica, New York, and HPM, Mount Gilead, Ohio. He was a Professor of Microprocessors at Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio. He earned a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Central Ohio Technical College in 1995 and practiced Home Health in many parts of Ohio. Al had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. He had a curious mind and was a source of much knowledge in many areas.

His family was very important to him as shown by the loving care he gave his daughter and parents before their deaths. Al was a generous husband, father and friend. He enjoyed music, playing the piano and using his computer. Al will always be missed.

Al was preceded in death by his daughter Melinda F. Lyons, and parents Mendell E. Rimmel and Marthena (Diver) Rimmel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda J. (Byron) Rimmel; daughter, Kimberly E. Morris; grandchildren, Kaylee L. Lyons, Kyle A. Lyons, Ethan R. Morris, Erin M. Morris; and several in-laws; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio on Saturday, July 24. Visitation will be at 2 pm, with the service to follow at 3 pm In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HomeReach Hospice.

Alfred was a member of the marching band in 1956.
